Our Standard
The Jane Austen International English Olympiad is structured around the principles and proficiency levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), using internationally recognised language proficiency benchmarks while remaining an independent competition designed to recognise student achievement at every stage of their educational journey.
How It Works
The competition is held across three consecutive stages — School Round, National Round, and International Final — and is structured around five age categories, each associated with an indicative CEFR level. This approach is designed to provide an age-appropriate and consistent competition experience for participants.
Through English language tasks designed for each competition stage, students are encouraged to demonstrate language proficiency, communication skills, critical thinking, and their ability to use English effectively in an international academic environment.

Together, they contribute to the organisation and delivery of the Olympiad and to maintaining a consistent international competition experience for participants.
